Do some of your learners have learning, attention or behavioural difficulties, such as dyslexia or ADHD? Do you want to include them in the mainstream classroom but are not sure how? Do you want to get some fresh ideas for interesting activities which will liven up your day-to-day teaching?
In this seminar, we will first outline some general teaching principles for teaching pupils with special educational needs (SEN) in the mainstream English classroom. We will then consider common problem areas and effective strategies which not only help pupils with SEN, but also benefit the whole class. And, of course, you will try out many fun activities!
Daniela Clarke is a teacher, teacher trainer, ELT writer and subject learning coach. She has been involved in ELT for over 20 years, mainly in the UK and the Czech Republic. Her teaching experience ranges from young learners to adults of all language levels and competences, and her teacher training experience covers training on the Trinity Cert TESOL and Exam Assessors Courses. Daniela currently works as a teacher trainer and an ELT consultant, and presents regularly at ELT conferences in Central and Eastern Europe. She is especially interested in the theory of learning, motivational teaching strategies and tactile learning.
